Her spell choked off, Elina succeeds in getting her fingers between her throat and the necklace and prepares to turn and deliver a static shock at the cat witch. But Annalae deftly loops the chain over Elina's head and draws a full noose around her neck. The chain is already tightly drawn, and the cat witch throws her weight onto Elina's back, forcing her down against the wall of the cistern. The fallen candelabra catches the Scholar's eye...
Now, before anyone complains here, yes, Annalae's strangling maneuver is really not that decisive and could be broken in a number of ways. But let's not forget that Elina is a medieval scholar, which doesn't mean she's studied martial arts, self-defense, or even brawling tactics. She knows history, she knows supernatural lore, she knows geography and political heraldry, linguistics and cultures, and she even knows some herbal remedies and healing techniques. Above all that, she knows a little magic. But she's no Callista, nor even a Deirdre. She's potentially never been in a physical fight in her life, unless the lifting of books off of bookshelves could be classified as such a struggle. She's here for her geographic expertise in moving around through the catacombs, for her magical key of portals, and for her quick thinking. She honestly thought that hitting Annalae's cats with the static shock spell would weaken the catshade enough for Luther to finish it, but she was wrong.
So, on to Plan B, whatever that is...
Again, I hope this page shows the awesome stock photos provided by ~Lizzy-Barry (for Annalae), and ~Feathered-pics (for Elina). They are both wonderful, lovely women and quite good sports, and this picture was a ball to draw.
Throttling. Tethering. I'm an equal-opportunity kind of artist... Thank you! Much of the credit goes to the stock models, who really put together some great expressions in their photos.
Yet another nice one there, Jeff. Annalea looks totally psychotic, and Elina looks totally strangly.
Not much else to say. Keep it up!
