Lying on the edge of the pit trap he and Elina barely avoided, Luther Vandermoor sighs in unconsciousness, then stirs slightly in darkness. His breathing is rapid, broken, and harsh, as his subconscious mind struggles to balance the fleeting awareness of the dangers about him against the troubling images playing through his dreams.
