The Scholar is yanked from her feet and hauled down the darkened corridor, the zombies maintaining their harsh, lifeless grip on her hair, wrist, and robe. Elina struggles to right herself, to get her feet underneath her, to wriggle free, but all she succeeds in doing is tearing further at the seams of her robe, already overtaxed by the ordeals of this horrible day. Dragging her between them, the two undead captors may as well be horse-drawn carts for all they appear to respond to Elina's grunts of pain and effort.
