The sound of the impact penetrates the walls of Jervil's Boudoir, where the Cat Witch lies chained to the Rat Sorceror's bed. In the hours since the twisted creature performed the ritual to scribe the mystic rune on her womb, the chains on her limbs have relaxed slightly and allowed her some movement and comfort, comfort enough for Annalae to drift off to welcome slumber.

But as the muffled thud of stone and settling of dust startles her awake, the Cat Witch feels instantly the hollowness where her accompanying feline presence has always been. It is close but beyond reach, a powerful memory speaking to the senses but refusing to come to mind. Terrified, she holds completely still, mind and senses out searching the menacing world around her.
