To Marshal's Heel

"On A Leash" series, Painting #4.

This is more colorful than I am used to--normally I like to keep the colors subtle and less intense, with a splash of brightness on the most important elements of the subject. I found myself throwing all kinds of color in the background on this one. Sometimes I like it, and sometimes I don't. The woman on the right had her legs posed differently in my mental image, but after blocking the picture in and getting partway into it, I found the composition wouldn't work. I found a snapshot of the woman from "Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 'The Lost World,'" (Jennifer O'dell, I've learned recently--thanks, Vorhees) and extrapolated from it what I needed to get her to work, including her face. I was tempted to make the girl on the left look more Indian (either Native American OR Asian, actually), but I decided to let it sit for a while and the urge hasn't returned. So, she stays as is. My thanks to fagashlil and The-Silverlining and Sweets-B for helping me get the title to this one.
