Avora feels the cold jaws close up around her face, the fangs brushing the flesh of her scalp and ears, finger-walking their way down to her forehead and into the crook of her neck. There is an instant of intense pain, like a spear thrust through the skull between her eyes, but it is immediately lost behind a sensation of thoughts that wash over her mind like mist over a peaceful brook. Her vision fades to gray, like the unseen topside of rainclouds, and Avora feels a growing lethargy looming below.

But through it all her memories stand firm, an isle of floating bedrock above brook and sky. Though foreign images and symbols rise through the haze about her, the former scholar’s early training does not fail her, and she can feel the Wand of Antreatos still gripped loosely in her hand.

Still connected to the self that now reaches beyond her mind, Avora resists the urge to close her eyes. As the Guardian’s venom works its psychic magic, she feels the impressions within forced to break forth into the field of what she views in the tower around her. Instead of a landing, a wall, and the living iron of the constructed spider’s legs, she sees a small host of figures gathering near, their feet lost in the clouds of the horizon. The figures speak, their voices joined in cadence and word, but different in tone, but Avora recognizes several among them instantly.

I've said this before, and I will say it again. Avora was drawn using references provided to me by Viator-Defessus , whose work with this model really made the Avora character come alive for me. My thanks to photographer and model!
