Web of Betrayal Page116 by faile35

***********************************************

"There is little to fear, Scholarling," the Hellbinder responds as the two reach the top of the steps. "We know the placement of the wards, and we will not be challenged by any sentries save those the High Lady Drea Aliandis may have installed within the last week. For that, we will rely on your own... insight."

Elina feels a twinge of fear; as the terrible events of the past week were unfolding, the Scholar knows that the High Lady Drea did indeed institute a few changes for the security of the Seat of Judgment and those who served at Court*. Tethered and led along at the flank of her captor, she cringes at the thought that the powerful creature would use Elina's own siphoned energy to harm those she cares about. But there is an odd weight to the Hellbinder's words that fills her with even more dread. What more could the creature desire that would be obtained in the Hall of Judgment in such a dark hour? And exactly how would it derive from her the advantage of her insight?

The Hellbinder places a massive hand against the partially open door and swings it wide, and the two move into the building.

***********************************************

* For those who are interested, the first such change was detailed at the end of Drea's scene in Twisted Plot, Part 2 (here --> Twisted Plot Revision Page102 ), and will likely be followed up with several more such changes suggested or even detailed as Part 3 comes out, along with the revisions of Fair Harvest and Vision Impaired.

Before anyone feels the need to point it out, I forgot the door handle on the last one. That's because I wasn't quite sure what it was supposed to look like when I was drawing the previous page. It'll be a snap to go in and add it later. :salute: As always, Elina was drawn using references produced by Emily at Feathered-pics who is always a pleasure to draw. Thanks, Emily!

Enjoy! =)

Note: Web of Betrayal and Demon's Due are a work of fantasy and fiction. The artist/creator in no way condones real mistreatment of this kind toward any woman or man, by living person, gremlin, plant, assassin, ratman, viscous fluid, programmed device, animated home furnishings, or otherworldly spiritual beings. Furthermore, the artist opposes the marginalizing and restriction of women in general by any institution, political and/or religious, including those which have individual women amongst their membership touting/promoting their own happiness within that institution as evidence that ALL women should feel the same way. This includes the religion I was raised in and which I have utterly discarded from my life over this and other issues.

Looks like the party is about to get started.

While I'm sure Elina would be quite a sight, any sentries would be fortunate to not run into this pair as the Hellbinder would likely go through them like a hot knife through butter. Although given some of the previews we saw, it seems like that would only be a short reprieve.

Hrm, I could half see her wishing the guards could save her, but half trying to help him because he'd rip through anyone who tried to stop him and would get punished later for not helping...

Uncle Rope Monster: "All right then... this is my pad.  Everything's from Ikea, but top of the line.  None of that cheap 'Kivik' or 'Ektørp' crap.  As you can see, I went with a unifying theme of—"

Velmalina: "Rope."

URM: "Well, yeah.  I am a rope monster.  Anyhoo, the TV and X-box are over there.  I've got the entire Fast & Furious franchise on Blu-ray, except for the third one, and a really riveting documentary on the Black Death from PBS."

V [staring at movie poster framed and hanging above the sofa]: "What is Streets of Fire?"

URM: "Really?  You've never seen Streets of Fire?  Diane Lane was sooo hot back then.  I mean, she's a hot MILF now, but back then?  Yowza!  I'm thinking of kidnapping her next."

V: "You're a pig."

URM: "Watch your mouth, or no Super Mario Kart for you.  Here, this is from the Streets of Fire soundtrack."

URM punches a button on his sound system and music fills the apartment.
