The end result is well worth the wait. The original "Rats in the Cellar" was what brought me to Deviant Art in the first place. The art of the revision is quite superior to the original, showing your growth; however, I still find that the original has a more edgy, primal feel. I like both actually and look forward to the complete work.

At some point we (meaning you) are going to have to fix this dreadful problem with counting. Looking at all of these, it really is shocking just how many of them look so much like the woman that I shot a year or so ago (hard to believe it's been that long, right?). There are a few images where I feel like you missed the mark a little and it doesn't quite look like her, but overall the effect is stunning. The latest page you just uploaded looks as good as any photo I took of her as far as likeness goes.

Wow. Somebody's up kinda' late. ;)

Thanks for the compliments, and the observation. One advantage that doing the Rats revision so miserably out of order is that the pieces done when I'm more comfortable and familiar with the model's face are scattered throughout, so that the sequence doesn't necessarily stand out from less faithful to more faithful like it does with the others. I've gotten pretty damn comfortable drawing Emily's face in the Elina role, but you can see in the early Elina appearances in Bare Necessities that I was still trying to get there.

Regarding ~catchan , I'm thinking that I might still miss the mark here and there, the end result will still be easily recognizable by the "uninvolved" as Valerin, even if it's not spot-on ~catchan , which was the initial goal. If I have to go into the digital files for some of these and do a bit more tweaking to bring them up to a higher standard, I might do it before this is all over.

Regardless, I'm pleased that you're pleased with the result. I just wish I could have gotten here (and through the next two revisions) a little faster.

Well, you posted this an hour after me and you're 1 hour behind me due to time-zone... so, Pot, meet Kettle.

I still have all of the original rats images (except for the ill-fated 21) saved and I think the old-vs-new makes an really interesting comparison. That said, I'm happy that we're about to get to the really "good parts" with Valerin nude and tied. I'm also looking forward to seeing if you expand on her escape scene and flight to the stairs (what the ill-fated 21 would have covered) because that's always seemed like a hole in the original version (she just goes from being with the gremlins to being on the stairs).

There's only about 3 images that I think are "off" enough that I'd actually think about trying to mess with them. Overall you're doing a great job and I'll be looking forward to what happens in the next two revised and expanded chapters.

When I'm done with the revision (all pages posted), I'll appreciate you letting me know which ones are "off." I have my own convictions on the matter, but nothing that couldn't be digitally altered in a matter of an hour or so.

If you look at the last WIPs Preview image, Valerin's flight to the stairs starts with the image on the left-hand side of the top margin. It is followed by two images where she's yanking her rope tethers free and crushing another gremlin beneath her foot (both penciled in on new boards that are not shown), followed by another image of her running down the corridor, chased by the mob (reference is printed, but no board space left for it), followed by her reaching the base of the stairs which is on the WIPs Preview, right-hand margin, second from the bottom. She starts up the stairs, pictured on the left-hand margin at the bottom, and she makes it up partway before her progress is halted (reference printed, no board space), whereupon she cries out, as pictured in the one I just posted yesterday (50-ish). So, what used to be a ruined picture followed by two undrawn running pages has been expanded to eight images. :salute: After the treatment the others are getting, her story definitely deserves this much.

Avora is going to be a lot of fun... :plotting:

Somehow I think that "fun" feeling is going to be shared by everyone except Avora...
