The cold hands draw strips of cloth around Elina's wrists and ankles, but as she submits to her own binding, the Scholar recognizes that the undead fumble with the knots. She begins to hope for an opportunity to escape--even without her sandals, she knows she can outrun all three of her captors once freed from the tattered restraints. But where would she flee?

Her thoughts are interrupted by the talking gremlin, who casually climbs upon her chest and perches above her breast, holding her wadded underwear in its hand. Its glowing eyes dart the white cloth to her mouth, and the Scholar subconsciously turns her head away as the thing speaks again. "Language is your kind's great strength, and it's great weakness. Like runes of power that can be made to float, fly, light, and burn, the words of your speech are symbols for the containing of ideas. And enough ideas create power." The creature leans forward eagerly. "Stop the words, and you stop the merging of those ideas into the power you would command. Thus, while you await the replenishing of sorcerous energy to your depleted womb, a simple stopper for your speech will render you powerless."

It's safe to say that I'm having a LOT of fun with this section. It's about time that we saw someone actually try to speak with our villain, as cryptic and evasive as the little sucker is...
