Well, we begin this chapter with our heroine (okay, she's a witch and a murderess with lots of blood on her hands, but still...) fleeing into the Undercellar after a bad encounter with a Scholar, a Swordsman, and a Bucket of Water. Recognizing that her dripping clothing would leave a trail her pursuers could follow, Annalae removes her skirt and corset (?) and pushes deeper into the maze-like catacombs, past an exit she hoped to take to the surface, now blocked by a massive fire that lights the room behind her.

Note, November, 2009: Uh, Jeff, apparently Annalae already discarded her skirt back in the last chapter... faile35.deviantart.com/art/Bar… . Go back and change that one, will you? This plot is already so convoluted it's like "Pirates of the Caribbean" on speed...
