“There’s nothing here!” the man hisses, slamming closed the volume of the archive's Legistra Magistrex and reaching for the next. But there is none; he has searched through all of its volumes and come up empty-handed. Instead, the lord finds himself reaching across to the adjacent writer’s desk, to where the quiet Initiate Scholar always busies herself when accompanying him to research in this sanctum. Ordiel knows the young Villios woman is assigned as his watchdog; the Magistrate, Chief Advisor, Chief Scribe, and Captain of the Watch are all wary of him and his position in their court.

Wary, even fearful, perhaps.

That thought loans Pristus a measure of confidence and prompts him forward. He grasps the text, recalling how it occupied the young scholar’s attention and observes the title. “’Uncommon Life,’” he reads aloud. “’…A Bestiary of the Fantastic and Formidable.' Hmm, by Elina Cleithon Daphonae of House Villios, 'Scholar Sorceri Initiati.'’” Ordiel frowns. His watchdog’s own work, no less, and apparently little more than a gathering of local legends and mystical devices employed by parents and demagogues to exert control and fear throughout their dependents and followers. Still, Ordiel finds himself thumbing through the pages, wherein he recognizes some references to local menaces that are terribly real, like the dreaded sleeper’s bane plants and jackrats currently being burned out of the northwestern fields by Lord Vandermoor.

And then one page catches his eye...

And here we have the first real appearance of what will soon become the second Demon's Due supplementary publication. In the spirit of good teasers, let me just say that some of this year's drawing time has been spent putting together illustrations and assisting an interested writer in authoring Elina's Bestiary of Demon's Due creatures. Some of that work has already influenced and been influenced by the last few pages showing Avora's exploration of the Demon Garden, and it certainly will come into play in Twisted Plot Part 3 when I take those drawings from their now finished ink stage to completion and publication in a few months. More on Elina's Bestiary will show up in the storyline, including the pages of Web of Betrayal that are due to be illustrated as soon as Twisted Plot, Part 2 is finished (two pages from now). :plotting:

As the actual publication of the Bestiary nears, I will be posting snippets and samples here and there. But it should be a unique and fun addition to the whole storyline, with a very cool voice written for our young Scholar by someone who is better at that than I. :w00t:

Enjoy!

Note: Twisted Plot and Demon's Due are a work of fantasy and fiction. The artist/creator in no way condones this kind of treatment toward any woman or man, by living person, gremlin, plant, assassin, ratman, viscous fluid, programmed device, animated home furnishings, or otherworldly spiritual beings. Furthermore, the artist opposes the marginalizing and restriction of women in general by any institution, political and/or religious, including those which have individual women amongst their membership touting/promoting their own happiness within that institution as evidence that ALL women should feel the same way. This includes the religion I was raised in and which I have utterly discarded from my life over this and other issues.

Jeff, I know I'm a little late, but I just noticed the Under Armour® catalog at Lord Oreo's 11 o'clock position.  That isn't the extremely rare Under Armour® Catalog #1, is it??  Goatskin parchment and bound in goatskin leather??  Do you know what those things are worth??  Granted, at the time the entire Under Armour® product line was sweat-absorbing goatskin loincloths and tunics, but still... wow!!

You should sell it on e-bay!  What to do?
